Contemporary intercultural/interracial relations are front and center in the USA in the last several years. Most often, we feel the anguish, and wonder what our roles are and what they can be. In this course, you will have the opportunity to discover an answer to these questions. You will participate in and facilitate what have come to be known as difficult dialogues, using a unique and supportive process developed by the faculty.
We will examine:
- Reconciliation from the point of view of culture and race
- New frameworks for culturally sensitive conversations about race
- The difference between forgiveness and reconciliation
- New resources to increase the likelihood of successful dialogue

Hate Crimes and Hate Behavior: Victims, Perpetrators, and Angels – Edward Dunbar
Today, teaching about hate crimes and extreme prejudice is like being a weather commentator standing in front of a tsunami. This examination of the psychology of bias and hate violence will help you assess motivation to commit hate crimes, determine the possible consequences of reporting, and develop compelling ways to intervene in community and organization settings affected by intolerance.
