BOSTON — Reports of hate crimes have surged since Donald Trump’s election, and state leaders and civil rights groups are vowing to confront allegations of threats and harassment following his racially charged presidential campaign.

“Over the past two weeks we’ve heard alarming reports from across the country about harassment, threats and intimidation of immigrants, racial, ethnic and religious minorities and women,” Attorney General Maura Healey told hundreds of people rallying outside the Statehouse on Monday. “And, unfortunately, we’ve seen it here in Massachusetts.”

Healey said a hotline created by her office to field reports of intimidation has received more than 400 calls in the past week, and many cases are being investigated.
